Why, indeed? The serious answer is that they’re basically just condensed communities, and humans often find groups of humans to be more interesting than other humans. And if we want to bring socio-economic factors into it, you’ll see… Blah blah blah.
The fun answer is that they’re built on leylines, in places where the Veil between this world and the next is thinnest, and corporations of a less-than-genteel nature love dumping their lab experiments near them. Each has, among is residents, a motley crew of individuals who may not seem like much on their own, but put together they’re unstoppable in the face of the strange and the weird.
Oh, and they’re tornado magnets, but I’ll refer you back to the leylines bit above. I think those are connected.
Whether you go with the serious or the fun answer, the reality is we’ve gotten two anthologies out of what was–and still is–a silly premise that many find entertaining. What if a monster or group of monsters started ravaging the nearest trailer park? How would the locals react? What would they do to put a stop to the menace? Could they stop it?
In the fact of abject evil and otherworldly horrors, sometimes all it takes is a little bit of elbow grease and redneck know-how.
It Came From the Trailer Park Volume 2 is on Audible!
Brian Jeffords really knocks this one out of the park. His narration delivery, his character voices, and his comedic timing are on point! I loaded up one of the stories just to listen for a few seconds and before I knew it, I’d finished it and was eager for the next one. We know you’ll have the same experience. If monster hunting horror with a splash of comedy is your thing, you won’t be disappointed. Get it on Amazon, and don’t forget about Volume 1 if you haven’t read it already.
The “Trailer Park 3” Deadline is July 1st!
For those interested in submitting a story to volume three of the It Came From the Trailer Park series, time is running out! You have until July 1st to send us your best tale of a trailer park monster mash. Read the first two volumes to get an idea of what we’re looking for, and read below for the specific theme and guidelines of this anthology:
Stories should be original creature-feature, horror-comedy with the same feel as The Evil Dead, Army of Darkness, Shaun of the Dead, or Tucker and Dale vs. Evil. And of course, our heroes winning the day in all of their redneck glory. Plus as an added challenge, volume 3 will have a Rockabilly/Psychobilly/Horror Punk Flair to it. Not sure what that is? Think the band the Misfits, Elvis Presley, Stray Cats, The Reverend Horton Heat. Open up that can of worms and you’ll be heading down a rabbit hole you may not return from.
