Digital media has been on the rise for a number of years at this point, from downloadable music to books to games and movies. While it has not destroyed the print media side of the industry the way it was forecast, it is truly a dominant force due to cost savings and convenience. Why have rooms full of books and DVDs when it can all be a button click away on your tablet or computer?
Why, indeed? I may be old school, but I prefer physical copies for most of media. Reference books for writing I can take either way, but if it’s something I enjoy enough to read or play multiple times, I want a hard copy that I can see, hold, and display for others to see. Another bonus of a physical copy is it can’t be revised or altered, something that is becoming a problem in this new age of censorship.
Speaking of physical media, we’ve got a bookseller to showcase today!
Michael K. Falciani’s Books Available Locally in Nevada!
Our very own Michael K. Falciani (Author of The Raven and The Crow and The Dwarves of Rahm) has partnered with ACES of Northern Nevada to showcase his books and where they can be found. From their site, ACES “is an online hub where local readers can connect with local authors, find out more about them, and purchase their works.” They feature authors local to the Carson City area and help readers find where their books can be purchased, from local bookstores (And there’s quite a list available on their site!) to online venues such as Amazon or direct from the authors themselves.
Paranormal City Wins Book of the Year!
Stephen Oliver’s Paranormal City has won the “Book of the Year” award from the Writers Forum! We had no doubt he’d be able to pull this off. It’s a fantastic collection of adventures, following our half-angel, half-demon hero as he solves problems in a city that lives up to its name. If you haven’t had the chance to read it, now’s the perfect time to check it out on Amazon! Book two is on the way.
