A Different Kind of Road Trip…

…But one just as much in need of audio as the other!

While Hillbilly and Word Witch were eating up the miles via two-wheeled conveyance, I spent the weekend driving this sexy beast:

It was painted up a bit different, but there she is!

My brother does IT work for a local florist whose owners have been friends of the family for at least twenty years, and every year he gets roped into doing deliveries for Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day. Well, now that I’ve moved back, I also get roped into it! Valentine’s Day I got to drive one of the rentals, but this time around I got to drive one of the actual florist vans. I got to see more of my hometown than I ever saw growing up, which was interesting. One thing is certain: no matter one’s status in life, almost everyone loves flowers of some sort! And even if they complain about the expense of it all, you can tell the recipient still appreciates it.

So, what did I listen to while I was trying not to tip over an entire van full of flower vases? I’d had every intent of listening to audio books, but because of how frequently I needed to stop I opted for music. My soundtrack of choice was the Final Fantasy 7 Remake OST. I loved the original soundtrack from the 90s, but this remake is epic in every sense of the word. It certainly helped keep me awake during my deliveries, a feat considering we’ve got a teething infant keeping us up every hour on the hour!

I particularly recommend “Crab Warden”, “The Airbuster”, and “The Valkyrie” for battle themes:

Now, as for audio book offerings, we’ve got a few you might want to see!

Beast Hunt invites you to step into the claws, wings, and scales of the creatures humanity has feared for centuries. From mighty dragons to forgotten forest spirits, from mechanical monstrosities to cursed beings of the deep—these are the stories of the unseen, the unheard, and the misunderstood.

When the world brands you a monster, how far will you go to prove them wrong? Or… how far will you go to prove them right?

This gripping anthology of dark fantasy and emotional depth unveils the raw struggles of beasts who feel, who rage, who love, and who fight for their place in an unforgiving world. With tales from masterful storytellers, Beast Hunt is an epic exploration of what it means to be human… even when you’re not.

Monsters have feelings too. Rage against the machine. Embrace the misunderstood.

Will you hunt the beast, or will you stand beside it?

For John Fisher, it’s just another day at the office. But his “office” is a black Dodge Durango, rolling through the wild heart of the nation’s federal lands. Legends aren’t myths here; they’re reality. Creatures of shadow and blood, granted their place in the world after the Civil Rights Movement.

The law’s clear: magic is legal…until it’s used against the land, the people, or the rules of the natural order. Then, it’s his job to bring them in.

John’s not just any cop. He’s got the skills of a SEAL, the instincts of a predator, and a network deep inside the supernatural world. Werewolf, vampire, sorcerer—it doesn’t matter. No matter what you are, when you break the rules, he’s coming for you.

All Tom wanted was to do his job.

But when he accidentally walks into the middle of a feud between two sweet little old ladies, he finds out life in Fernald Court old age housing isn’t what it seems. There’s blood on the rooftops, bodies on the floor, and oddities skulking in the night.

And though the ladies are little and old, one of them is the furthest thing from sweet.
