I’m working my way through the audio proof of Your Call is Very Important to Us, and to call it powerful would be both cliche and an understatement, but powerful it is. A collection of poems, essays, and stories, written by veterans involved in the Global War on Terror, it took months to collect and years to pass government censorship clearance, but the Ebook and physical release is currently available on Amazon. I can’t recommend it enough. Of all the books we’ve published over the last few years, this may be the one most worth reading. And listening to, once I’ve finished going through it!
Without getting too deep into the weeds on the individual authors, a common thread running through much of it is the power that simply being present can bring into a situation. A leader who keeps his cool even after being wounded. A chaplain who remains even when he feels like he’s just in the way. A veteran who calls a buddy to check on him while both of them struggle to reintegrate into civilian life. And on the list goes. Powerful and moving, raw yet eloquent. As I said, I can’t recommend the book enough, and the audio book is no exception!

Your Call Is Very Important to Us is a powerful collection of stories, poems, and artwork from veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan War era-voices that are too often unheard, yet deeply needed. Through raw honesty and creative expression, these servicemembers share their experiences not only of war, but of what comes after: the search for purpose, identity, and healing.
This anthology stands as a reminder that veterans are more than their service. Their talents, perspectives, and stories reach far beyond the battlefield, offering connection to those who seek to understand and solidarity to those still finding their way.
For many contributors, writing and art have become lifelines-tools for processing, for rebuilding, and for hope. May this work serve as a bridge: helping veterans feel seen and reminding civilians that understanding begins with listening.
Proceeds from this book support the WeDefy Foundation, providing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu scholarships to disabled veterans-empowering continued healing through community, movement, and resilience.
