Starflight updates and progress.

It is beyond exciting to see the stories being created in the Starflight Universe. Even more so has been the reactions of the original game’s creator, Greg Johnson to the discussions within the author working group and the details that we have been fleshing out.

Even though the due date is March 31st for story submissions, we currently have four complete stories that are in review by our universe experts from the Starflight community and our team of authors. The stories showcase a wide range of characters and oh so familiar situations that any fan of the game will enjoy seeing brought to life.

Ever wonder why you couldn’t retrieve an out of power Terrain Vehicle? What is it really like down on Arth? How truly skeezy can a Thrynn actually be?

Then there are the finer details of the universe, Arth society and more being explored to flesh out the universe. Case in point, below. The discussion began because any organization will have some sort of rank structure. Interstel being a civilian corporation, we created a rank and discipline structure based on the real world Merchant Marines, but adjusted it to fit the universe. See the infographic below for details.

If you’d like a chance at an early sneak peak of the stories, sign up to become part of our Early Reader team. Just look for the EARC signup in the sidebar and be sure to let us know your preferred genre or series.

Joint Task Force 13

Joint Task Force 13 is a specialized unit of mixed service members who deal with supernatural threats that appear on the battle field.

There is a thin wall between our world and that of the Fae and, during times of war, it is easily stepped through. The passions and emotions stirred by violence and combat bleed over, and the supernatural often awake from a long slumber to meddle in mortal affairs. Then also, there are the humans who purposely force that wall down seeking glory and power. Either way, there have always been those among us who have been willing to meet the supernatural threat with cold steel, burning hearts and grim determination. In modern America, they are the men and women of Joint Task Force 13, those who have proven they have the mettle to confront soul blasting otherness on the battlefield. This unit, this organization, though, has been intertwined with our country since its birth. The name changes, but they are always there, ready to answer the call. Unknown, seeking no glory, asking no reward.

They hold the line … BETWEEN HEAVEN AND HELL.

What’s a soldier to do when the war is over? When he’s only known conflict his whole life? Since time immemorial the solution has been to find another war, this time for pay. Whoever has the credits and wins the high bid gets the experienced fighter. Sometimes, though, the money isn’t enough to cover the price. In the tradition of Hammer’s Slammers and Falkenberg’s Legion, a new universe of mercenaries and warfare takes place in the ruins of an alien empire.

The fighting is done for now and the alien Grausians who ruled over the Terran worlds have withdrawn from known space after a devastating civil war. In their wake the formerly subject races have fought themselves to a standstill and a negotiated armistice, leaving tens of thousands of veterans out of work and hundreds of planets in the lawless DMZ.

Captain Iona Keely ended the war as a veteran soldier with an Honorable Discharge from the Terran Union Marine Corps, a useless degree in 20th Century Old Earth Culture and no job. When her old boss, Colonel Meagher, catches up to her at a job fair he makes her an offer she can’t refuse and soon finds herself the Commander of Bravo Company, The Irish Brigade, Hibernia Arms LLC. Her first mission drops her on Holcomb IV, up to her neck in intrigue, sweat and blood. Along the way she picks up a new recruit, an alien Grausian who is trying to understand being nobility in an empire that doesn’t exist anymore.

An exciting new storyline and shared universe from two time Dragon finalist and author of the best selling “Irregular Scout Team One” series.

With thousands of personalities running around in his noggin, one thing is sure. No matter whether Kade is battling Teledyne Specialists in the streets, Geno Freaks in the sewers, or Zone Warlords in their Scrapers, he’s got an imprint for that.

Enter the Fallen World as seen through the eyes of Kade as he completes five different missions, and then get a special look at the birth of the Kade imprint in Kade: Origin. “Kade” includes six previously released short stories as well as almost 17,000 words of new Kade material.

When bodies began falling from Scrapers, you know Kade is nearby.
