Labor day weekend is upon us. JTF-13, Veteran’s charities, and a new open call.

It has been a busy and interesting weekend around Raven Central. Canning, pickling, and overall harvest time activities were in full swing most of the weekend.

We managed to put away thirteen quarts of tomatoes, one quart of tomato juice. Dried horseradish, carrots, peppers. Made Dressings and pepper sauce plus started a new batch of honey mead.

JTF-13

As most of you know, the latest JTF-13 novel, Sea Serpent released on Friday. Thank you to those who have left reviews and shared our posts, not to mention those who have purchased the book. We can’t do this without you and you and the support of the JTF Community.

Beyond that, The revamped JTF-13 Origins anthology is now available with the “Legacy” style cover.

And speaking of Origins, we have decided to do a little something special regarding this anthology.

Proceeds from all Ebook, print, or audio sales of Origins will be donated to the local chapter of Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, which does a lot of good for Veterans in need around the world.

Speaking of Veterans Charities

A young lady in one of the Veterans groups over on Facebook was looking for military members who wanted to contribute pictures, poetry, stories, and more to produce a Coffee table style book where Veterans can share their stories and experiences in service.

The project is lovingly named, “Your Call Is Very Important To Us”. The proceeds of which will be donated to the We Defy Foundation, A Veterans support group that provides combat veterans coping with military-connected disabilities a long-term means to overcome their challenges through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and fitness training.

We are looking for Veterans from Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom who have poems, journal entries, artwork, short stories, etc. from their time in service, deployed, or stateside to create a coffee table-style book. We want veterans to have the opportunity to tell their stories from their time in service through the creative mediums of their choice.

The stories/essays/memoirs can range from funny to serious to heartbreaking. One soldier’s voice may help others to find theirs and have the opportunity to heal.

Submission deadline is January 01, 2022

Remember OPSEC!

Please send submissions to alexis.casiday@gmail.com, along with Name, Rank/MOS, when and where you served. A picture in uniform (if possible). Any veteran may submit. Does not have to be combat-related. Please include contact information, title, etc. on your submission.

Proceeds from all book sales will go to the https://www.wedefyfoundation.org/
