I wish I had something personal or anecdotal to share, but no. The subject line says it all. Your reality (if you have kids or grandkids) is about to become my reality as both my girls head off to school next week. It’ll be the first time both have been away from the house together for more than a couple hours. Both are looking forward to it!
The thing I’m really looking forward to is more dedicated time to take care of some house projects, and some writing projects that need more time and care than I’ve been able to manage since around Easter time. But, the other thing I’m looking forward to is just that: audio time in the car! When the girls are with me, we’re usually listening to music they like. And that can be anything from kid-themed music to whatever video game soundtrack I managed to hook them on. Chrono Trigger, Xenoblade, the 2D Sonic titles… Not much room for the kind of audiobooks I enjoy (fantasy, sci-fi, Japanese light novels), but that’s about to change!
And speaking of audiobooks, we’ve got a couple available for your listening pleasure!
The Misadventures of Braxton Hicks by William Joseph Roberts

When the monsters come calling, Braxton Hicks answers the phone.
Out on the open road, Braxton Hicks—an agent of the KCG, the covert supernatural division of the U.S. Marshals—chases down the nightmares most folks pretend don’t exist. From haunted backwoods bars to forgotten highways humming with dark magic, Braxton rides straight into the heart of trouble… usually with a cold one waiting on the other side.
If you love the gritty vibe of Supernatural, the mystery of The X-Files, or the dusty, high-octane swagger of biker-fantasy thrillers, you’ll feel right at home in these pages. Packed with creatures, curses, roadside weirdness, and plenty of attitude, this collection drops you deep into the ever-expanding Braxton Hicks universe.
With over 100,000 words of magic, mayhem, and motor-powered monster hunting, this volume marks a major milestone in the saga—and a perfect entry point for new readers looking to hit the road with a hero who doesn’t know the meaning of “stand down.”
So crack open a cold one, saddle up, and ride shotgun with Braxton Hicks. The next supernatural showdown is only a mile marker away.

Morgana Wynd by
J. Herrera Kamin

In a world where memory fades but danger never does…
Fifteen-year-old Jack Brecker wakes up on his uncle’s lawn with no memory of the last few days and a gnawing sense that something is terribly wrong. Welcome to Morgana Wynd, a town Jack barely remembers but can’t seem to escape—a place where shadows move when no one’s looking, and the air crackles with secrets.
But Morgana Wynd isn’t just strange. It’s a crossroads of blood and black magic, where shapeshifters prowl the woods, ancient curses linger, and fanatics serve demon gods hungry for destruction.
When a demon god sets its sights on Jack’s soul, he has two choices: run—or fight.
Joined by the fierce and mysterious Neria and a band of wayward teens caught in the town’s deadly grip, Jack must face down the darkness and decide what kind of hero he’s willing to become.
The stakes are cosmic. The danger is real. And the time to act is now.
Welcome to Morgana Wynd. You’re not ready—but you’re going anyway.
