Military fiction spans a wide range of genres and subgenres, from modern warfare thrillers to historical pieces (The World Wars, the Civil and Revolutionary Wars, etc), to science fiction and fantasy. Which subgenre or period is your favorite? What do you get out of military fiction? Is it the action, the camaraderie among the characters, the hardware and tactics they’re using against the bad guys, or something else entirely?
We think most of you enjoy a bit of fantasy with your military fiction, given Joint Task Force 13’s readership. And if that’s the case, you’re in luck! We’ve got more JTF-13 on the way for you, in short form and long form. Our JTF-13 Legends anthology stories are currently in review, and we’re narrowing down our selections to the top submissions. Based on what we’re reading, you’re gonna like what you get your hands on in the near future.
Coming soon in JTF-13 novels is the book High Hopes by John M. Olsen, a tale of high-flying adventure in the skies of World War I Europe. Something is attacking allied pilots, and our heroes need to figure out what that something is. Is it a new German ace or some kind of secret weapon?
There is also a JTF-13 novel in the works that is set in modern times. We’re keeping a bit hush-hush on that until it is closer to completion, but expect the same kind of action and fantastic creatures you’ve come to expect from this universe. It’s gonna be a wild ride.
That’s all for this week. Take care, and keep reading!
